Description

Single Origin Ethiopian Sidamo Coffee Beans

Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. In the woodlands of the Kaffa area, and in other regions, coffee grows wild! Throughout Ethiopia, you will find some of the best coffee in the world.

Coffee is an integral part of Ethiopian culture. Within specific groups, it is celebrated every day with a Coffee Ceremony. While there are many intricacies for this ceremony; basically, the participants roast beans over an open fire, enjoying the aroma, and proceed to make and enjoy coffee.

Coffee plants in Ethiopia are some of the most varied in the world. Due to time growing wild over centuries, the coffee plants in Ethiopia also have more genetic material than coffee plants found anywhere else. The age of the plants explains why Ethiopian coffee is some of the most complex we may ever taste.

In the Sidamo region, the farmers grow the Heirloom variety of Arabica coffee. Here, Arabica coffee plants grow wild on the hillsides. The farmers all pool their output together. This pool produces an incredible complexity that along with wet processing, creates a deliciously deep coffee with citrus after tones you just can’t imagine until you taste it.

H&L Coffee Co. supports eco-friendly farming. We believe in every company’s role in the community. Our coffee is Sustainable. Direct Trade. UTZ Certified. Rain Forest Alliance Certified. Small Batch Artisan. Roasted to Order. 10% of proceeds benefit the Firefighter and Police Museum. All proceeds of our “Sparky” and “Frisky” roasts benefit animal welfare.
